Illusions of Grandeur

When this sky unfolded on the canvas, it was clearly going to be the star of the show. However, it needed supporting landscape. I played with various gestures and movement until the rest of the painting felt right. It never ceases to amaze me how lines, shapes and color can create the illusion of something real. Yet when you look close, you only see the abstraction.

I don't paint from photos, only memories of places I've been, and dreams of places I would love to go. May you enjoy letting this illusion take you places.
